Girl Fight! Bud Light Lime-a-Rita vs. Skinnygirl Margarita

It’s that time of year. The weather is getting steamy and you know what that means… Margaritas! Perfect for the beach, the pool or the boat.

And in this heat, sometimes you just don’t feel like dealing with the shaker. You want instant gratification. Just pour over a glass of ice and start sipping.

Girl Fight! Bud Light Lime-a-Rita vs Skinnygirl Margarita

So, we thought the time was ripe to compare two low-calorie pour-and-serve options, Bud Light® Lime-a-Rita and Skinnygirl’s Margarita®. Grab a cool one, get your ringside seat and watch these girls fight it out.

Our contender, Bud Light Lime-a-Rita® (‘Rita), was introduced by Anheuser-Busch earlier this year. Basically, she’s Bud Light® combined with Margarita mix.

And in this corner… the defending champ… Skinnygirl Margarita® (Skinny) is the flagship product of entrepreneur and reality TV personality Bethanny Frankel’s ready-to-serve cocktail line. She’s made with tequila and sweetened with agave syrup (the Margarita, not Bethanny).

Round One: Taste
Both are delicious (but the panel at TipsyAstrologer.com like pretty much any alcoholic beverage). ‘Rita is slightly sweet yet tart taste with a light carbonation. We like the tiny bubbles. Skinny has a light taste that needed a little extra lime to juice it up. We like both, but in the Dog Days of Summer, we prefer ‘Rita’s refreshing effervescence slightly more.
Winner of Round One: ‘Rita

Round Two: Convenience
Both Skinny and ‘Rita feature the ease of “pour and serve” convenience, but we like ‘Rita’s cans. Oh, get your mind out of the gutter! We’re talking about the handy single serving 8 ounce aluminum cans. Easy to chill. Doesn’t take up much room in the cooler or fridge. Unbreakable. Skinny comes in glass 750 ml bottles, and if you’re lucky, you can find a 4-pack of small plastic bottles in your area. Also, because Skinny contains Tequila, she can only be sold in liquor stores. Like beer, ‘Rita is a malt beverage and, in most states, can be found in supermarkets and convenience stores.
Winner of Round Two: ‘Rita

Round Three: Calories
Skinny throws a jab with 202 calories per 8 ounce serving. ‘Rita is slightly higher with 220 calories in the same size serving.
Winner of Round Three: Skinny

Round Four: Carbs
Lightweight Skinny beats the shit out of ‘Rita in this round. She has only 1.43 grams of carbohydrate per 8-oz serving. ‘Rita contains a whopping 29.1 grams per 8-oz serving.
Winner of Round Four: Skinny

Round Five: Alcohol Content
Skinny packs a stronger punch than ‘Rita in this round. She has a 24.5 proof (12.25%) alcohol content. ‘Rita is a little lighter on the tipsy scale with 8%.
Winner of Round Five: Skinny

Round Six: Value
Here’s where ‘Rita gets off the mat and bounces back with more bang for your buck. Prices vary and both go on sale from time to time. Skinny’s price ranges from around $14 to $19 for a 750 ml bottle. You can buy a 12 pack of 8-oz ‘Rita’s for about $12.
Winner of Round Six: ‘Rita
